Witherspoon School

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Last month, I had the opportunity to attend the 2008 Witherspoon School conference, an absolutely wonderful week of studying law and public policy from a Biblical worldview.  I am once again grateful for the work Vision Forum Ministries has done in advancing this great kingdom work, reclaiming law for the glory of God.  (Their original Witherspoon School audio recordings played in important role in my interest in the law and my decision to attend law school.)  You can read a full report on the 2008 Witherspoon School here.

John Smith Award

Friday, July 6th, 2007

What a joyful evening to see the John Smith Award go to the beloved attorney (yes, those words can go together), Christopher J. Klicka.  Read all about it here.

On a personal note, Mr. Klicka was an important inspiration in my life in gaining an interest in studying law.

About 30 of us from Oak Brook College of Law met the week before the First Year Law Students Exam (FYLSX or the “baby bar”) in order to pack the final days with study and preparation.

We were grateful for the willingness of an upperclassman, Paul Harman, to lead the review sessions and help us focus our study during these last few days leading up to the exam.

We still had a little time to do some sightseeing.

After all, the goal of the studying is to be in top condition when we reached the exam, not worn out from a week of overtime studying.  (As someone recently put it, we want to be at the mountain’s peak, not coming down the other side!)

I did lose my exam admittance card during the lunch break between the morning and afternoon sessions of the exam (ouch!), but thankfully, the exam administrators were willing to make me a new admittance card so I could get in when I just showed a photo ID!  That was a relief!
Thanks to everyone who kept me and my class in prayer.  We should be hearing the results from the exam next week!
