Passover (a few months late)

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

Back in April was Passover, one of our favorite holidays with, full of tremendous lessons from both Old and New Testaments.  As usual, we had a seder (the Passover service and meal) for our congregation, with 35 people in our house!  It was a really wonderful time.

There’s always lots to get ready.  (Special thanks to our good friends the Sherrys, who once again put in a lot of work to help us get it all done!)

One of our little innovations is to reenact the scene from Exodus 12, where the Israelites painted the blood of the lamb one their doorposts.  Using grapejuice as a representative of the blood, it’s always interesting to see the firstborns come forward (adults and children).  This, of course, if because the firstborns were the ones saved from death on that first Passover, by the blood of the lamb.

Three children, four questions.

One of the highlights of the evening was the music.

Our good friend, bass-baritone singer and conductor Dr. Rudy Strukoff presented several powerful songs, accompanied on the piano by his wife Donna.

And of course, we heard from Joel and Conrad.

What you’ve just seen is a small sampling - and you haven’t even heard the music - so keep this in mind for next year.  Maybe you’ll be able to join us then!
