Sforzando String Camp

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

The second item going on in that busy last week of July (for the first, see this post) was Joel’s participation in the Sforzando String Camp.  This was his second time in it, and once again, it was great!

The organizers of this event at Marquette Manor Baptist Church did a great job (again) of bringing together great instructors and a really good group of young musicians, all of whom want to honor the Lord with their music.

The concerts featured a great selection of sacred music, and great classics by Haydn, Beethoven, and Mozart.

Homeschool Display at the UMJC Convention

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

The last week of July had a lot going on!  I’ll tell about it in two posts.  Hopefully, I can add pictures to this in the near future; in the meantime, since it’s already a month late, here’s at least a quick summary.

First, the UMJC conference.  The Association of Messianic Home Educators had a table at the vendor hall of the UMJC’s conference - an international gathering of one of the largest groups of Messianic Jewish congregational leaders.  We were excited to have this opportunity to share information about home education and (more importantly) how home education fits with a multigenerational vision for family faithfulness.

A goodly number of people came by, looked at our materials, picked up literature, and engaged in conversation.  On display were several items: Enjoying Your Children (my parents’ book); Celebrating the Feasts (lessons our family has learned, condensed from Enjoying Your Children); How Should a Godly Woman Dress? (by my mother); Safely Home (book), and Homeschool Vision of Victory (audio CD) (both of the latter are from our friends at the Vision Forum).

Thanks to Teresa and Sarah Sherry, who worked with us in running the table - setup, takedown, and all the interactions throughout the conference.  They were a great blessing (as usual)!
